It felt like ages since I’d painted orcas. I wish I had time to paint them every day.

Aaaand it’s done.

Plug plug plug! There’s now a tumblr just for my marine life art. I’ll be posting works in progress as well as sketches, doodles and lots more things that don’t make it into the portfolio. There’s not a lot there at the moment, but there will be regular updates. Reblogs are hugely appreciated! Thank you!

Studio progress! It’s coming along slowly but surely, although I’ve reached a dead end until I can afford a new desk and a display case for my whales. It’s definitely feeling like my space now though. The cork board on the right has a few memories of my old job back in England - my name badges and newspaper clippings I represented the facility in - as well as my Trainer For a Day/Dine With Shamu passes from a few years ago. There’s also a piece of paper featuring some of my first ever orca drawings, and the framed photograph in the center is of my first adopted orca, Strider/A6, from some time in the 90s. There’s a lot more to do and I can’t wait to get more things on display, but it’s a fun start.

If you’re looking for a gift for the ocean lover in your life, I have several prints available in my etsy store! There’s still time for me to ship before the holiday; I will be absent from the 17th to the 29th, so be sure to get your order in!
Thank you for looking!

Morgan is such a precious little whale. The shapes of her markings have always struck me as being particularly beautiful.

Finally finished the orca pod I’ve been working on for about a week, on and off between work. There’s an in-progress screenshot on my Facebook page. I have a billion ideas for other things I want to draw/paint but I always end up coming back to orcas.

Pet hate of mine: Poor Photoshops of SeaWorld’s orcas ~*in the ocean*~ becoming so popular they are on the covers of books/calendars/posters
