Curiosity || Acrylic on canvas (16 x 16) || April 2012
It felt like ages since I’d painted orcas. I wish I had time to paint them every day.
Aaaand it’s done.
Plug plug plug! There’s now a tumblr just for my marine life art. I’ll be posting works in progress as well as sketches, doodles and lots more things that don’t make it into the portfolio. There’s not a lot there at the moment, but there will be regular updates. Reblogs are hugely appreciated! Thank you!
Morgan is such a precious little whale. The shapes of her markings have always struck me as being particularly beautiful.
Hooray, it’s finished! Acrylic on 5x7 canvas. I may sell the original in the future. Actually finishing a painting feels awesome (and my fastest turnaround too - about three days, on and off).
If you’re a new follower and want to see more, here’s my website, and my Facebook page, where I post works in progress.
Terrible iPhone photo of a little 5x7 canvas I’ve been working on today. My eyes hurt.
One Ocean premiered at SeaWorld Orlando this morning. I can’t wait to make a trip down there; it’s been almost two years since I’ve seen the whales and I miss Malia and Trua. Though the logo for One Ocean still sends me into a rage (seriously, it’s literally a Photoshop Disaster), the set looks beautiful and I’m looking forward to seeing how it’s all come together.

Gasp! I’ve finally gone back to an acrylic painting I started in November. Yes…. November. Thankfully, my Stay-Wet Palette is so awesome that it kept my paints moist that entire time. Science! Now that it’s getting warmer here in Atlanta already, it’s nice to be able to sit in the kitchen and paint with the windows open. Hope the neighbours are enjoying hearing the Gladiator and Pirates of the Caribbean soundtracks over and over.
